Happy B-Day NickieOn Thursday we had an appointment with the Doc, she said that since Heidi had always needed to be induced or pushed to progress, that being as healthy as she was, she could go in and induce the labor the next day and just get it over with.
So any way, long story short, we showed up at the hospital at 1100 Fri (I was planning on calling everyone latter that day and as you'll see we didn't ever know what was going on tell way late at night) it was until 1500 before the "on call" Doctor came in to start any thing and she didn't want to give Heidi the drugs to induce, she wanted to see if she could get it started by ripening the cervix (ya I know TMI but it is important to the story).
Heidi started to get regular contractions around 1630 but was not progressing or had very little progression. they wouldn't even admit her tell about 2200
By 2300 she had little progress [4 cm] and the Doc was still refusing to give her Patowsen (I don't know how to spell it) to get the ball going. (side note the on call is a infamous Doc that is extremely paranoid of losing babies and is well known for her need to push C-sections on her patients, most people don't like to have her as there Doc and Most of the nurses hate to work with her) any way i felt from the beginning that she didn't like the idea of inducing anyone and she showed it in her actions as a Doc, I knew by this point it was going to be a long labor because it was 7 hr at that time before the next "on call" took over (Dr. Nelson, who was Heidi's Doc from the miscarriage and was the doc we new best from Heidi's appointments) at this point Heidi and I had had it with the crazy lady who wouldn't listen to us and we were going to push through tell Dr Nelson arrived, I laid out on the couch and crashed.
At about 0200 I was awaken by buzzers and the crashing sounds of 5 nurses spinning like tops around Heidi's bed, like mom said Not so dramatic as it sounds, basically Heidi's blood pressure was dropping and she was having trouble breathing the nurses were acting fast to bring it back up, they worked tirelessly for 4 hrs to keep it up; Nickie's Heart rate kept dropping at every contraction and Heidi was not getting better and all of this after allot of drugs and almost 5 Ltrs of Fluids, the nuses were at their wits end, the Doc was not shure what was causing the problems but she did know it would be fattel for both of them if the divivery did not happen soon.
At 0540'ish they took her in to the OR and performed the emergancy C-section (I was freking out) Nicole was born at 0552, 8lb 3.7oz and it was an hour and a half hours before I saw Heidi again.
Nicole had barrel rolled wrapping the cord all around herself and was pulling the placenta away from the uterine wall. this is called something I can't remember but very dangerous for the mother and the baby because of blood clots for mom and strangling for the baby. Most of you all know how it turned out; we are all ok now there are pictures on the site.
Looking back at this wonderful yet terrifying event me and Heidi both agree that it was a blessing that we induced early, had labor started at home we might not had seen Heidi's problem symptoms until it was to late and I might had lost one or both of them! Up DateXmas was good so was new years-the fam had a lot of fun visiting every one in Cally will i was in DC so...Thank you mom and dad, heather holly and any one else that took care of my family will i was away. I could be deploing later this year or not tell next there is no way to tell yet. |
